Elvis Festival back at PorthcawlNovember 9th 2006 - Chiara Rinaldi, Glamorgan GazetteDonations are rock n' rolling in to Bridgend Women's Aid thanks to fans of the King. Elvis enthusiasts have been bidding for the artwork of Porthcawl's Elvis Festival. Bridgend artist Sara Dix auctioned off the watercolour she created especially for the event. As a result, she presented a donation to the borough's Women's Aid, which is raising funds to furnish a new refuge. The art teacher at Brynteg Comprehensive School said: 'I have done the artwork for the past two festivals and auctioned it off on the last day. 'This year I painted a striking blue and orange watercolour. 'We took bids throughout the festival and I've heard that it's now hanging up on a wall somewhere in America. 'Because of the popularity of the festival I've started up my own web site, thekingoncanvas.com.' |
